NCAA Releases Article on New Marketing Manual

During the past year, ELSM has been involved in a partnership with the National  Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) to help grow the sport of wrestling.  In an effort to do this, the three entities engaged in a collaborative Marketing Manual project to create a resource to help coaches to position their programs more effectively in the future.  In anticipation of the upcoming release of the Marketing Manual, the NCAA has released an article on their home webpage about the resource.  In essence, the manual is a step-by-step kit designed to guide coaches in the key areas necessary to market their programs.  Mike Moyer, Executive Director of the NWCA, explained the importance of this resource in today’s competitive climate:

“In today’s athletics environment, coaches need to be proficient in CEO skills like marketing, fundraising, promotions, and communications. We want college coaches to increase their spectator base, increase traffic on social media and develop more of a following on campus in the regional community and with stakeholders.”

In coordination with the Marketing Manual, there will also be a resource section on the NWCA website to provide coaches with additional materials to guide programs.  Both of these will become available on the website next week during the NWCA Convention.  In addition, there will be materials added to the resource section throughout the upcoming 2012-13 academic year.  More information will be made available following next week’s release.  For access to the NCAA press release on the Marketing Manual, click here or on the graphic provided above.
